Epson printers are frequently used for creating positive film templates. The increasingly fine print dots and the ability to print at very high resolutions offer an ideal way to create high-quality prints at lower costs compared to traditional photochemistry or thermal printing methods. However, the use of pigment inks is not optimal due to their poor light-blocking capability.
farbenwerk HighDensity Pro Black offers several advantages over the original Epson inks:
Pigments have an irregular texture or surface and partially lie on the surface of the printed medium. Due to the uneven, non-homogeneous print surface, light penetrates between the pigments through the film. With farbenwerk HighDensity Black dye-based ink, you get deep black, homogeneous print surfaces that optimally block the incoming light.
farbenwerk HighDensity Black can either be installed in one black channel of the printer or in all channels. For example, in a pigment printer with installed matte and photo black, the matte black can ideally be equipped with farbenwerk HighDensity Black. This way, the possibility of color printing remains, and the device is expanded to include the ability to print separation films. In the printer driver, select a matte medium that supports the “grayscale” mode. In this mode, only the set black channel is printed, working in the so-called “black-only” mode.
Alternatively, you can equip all channels of the printer with HighDensity Black and print in the normal color mode, which is also used for printing color photos. This is suitable if the printer is used solely for separation printing.
If there are inactive channels in a printer, they are equipped with farbenwerk CLEAR:INK. Operating an Epson printer requires that all ink channels be equipped with compatible printer cartridges and that these cartridges, as well as all ink lines and printhead channels, are filled with ink to avoid printhead damage. By using farbenwerk CLEAR:INK, you not only protect your printhead but also reduce the printing consumables costs.
