Notes on battery disposal

Notice on the Disposal of Used Batteries

The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and do not resell them in the form in which they were supplied (end users):

1. Free Return of Used Batteries

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obligated to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can return used batteries to a municipal collection point or local retailers. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our take-back obligation is limited to the types of batteries that we currently or previously offered as new batteries in our product range. You can either send such used batteries back to us with sufficient postage or drop them off free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address provided in the imprint.

2. Meaning of Battery Symbols

Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out trash bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005% mercury by mass, more than 0.002% cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004% lead by mass, the chemical designation of the respective hazardous substance is displayed below the trash bin symbol:

  • “Cd” stands for cadmium
  • “Pb” stands for lead
  • “Hg” stands for mercury
