With this complete package, you get everything you need for high quality black & white printing with the Epson® EcoTank printers.
Carbonprint Museum is based on 100% carbon pigments, without the addition of color pigments. It may be one of the longest lasting inkset ever made for photography printing. Carbonprint Museum is therefore the perfect solution for photographers with a fondness for matte papers and printouts in a naturally warm black tone. Because of the warm tone of carbon pigments, the tone of the resulting printouts ranges from neutral warm to almost sepia. Prints on high white paper, are slightly warm, by using paper with a warmer paper white, the printouts will be also warmer. Carbonprint Museum is compatible to matte photo and fine art papers without any gloss coating.
Carbonprint Museum is absolutely compatible with matte photo- and fineart papers, all papers that are printed with the black version "Matte-Black"!
Printing fineart prints with the Ecotank printer is very easy and with very good results. You get longterm stable art prints with high quality and unique feel. Papers up to at least 310g weight can be easily processed via the rear paper feeder. The device should be filled in the new condition to ensure clean ink tanks. A transparent ink is filled into the tank for the "Photo Black (114 PB)", since this channel is not required for printing with carbon print.
In the case of pigment inks for printing on matte papers, the "Matte-Black" color channel is used to create a deep black. Therefore, for the printer models ET-8500 and ET-8550, the rear single-sheet paper feed must be used.
Below are some important notes on using Carbonprint in the ET-8500 / ET-8550
Filling or changing the ink
Carbonprint should ideally be used in an EcoTank printer with clean ink tanks, for example, in a new device.
For information on how to change the ink in an EcoTank, please refer to our INFO section.
Functions of the Printer
The printer's functions are altered or restricted when it is converted to Carbonprint as per the printer manufacturer's intended functions.
The printer models ET-8500 and ET-8550 come from the factory equipped with five dye inks (C, M, Y, GY, PB) and one black pigment ink (BK). Dye inks can be used on both matte and glossy papers. The existing Matte Black (BK) can be used for document printing (printer driver setting for "Normal paper") and for printing on photo and fine art papers (printer setting for "Velvet Fine Art Paper"). While most driver settings can be used for all paper feeds of the printer, the "Velvet Fine Art Paper" setting only works with the rear, straight single-sheet paper feed. To create photo prints using Matte Black (BK), you must use this rear feed.
Carbonprint is a pigment ink product. It also uses a Matte Black (BK), in addition to the other five channels, which are now also filled with pigment inks. To print matte photo and fine art papers with the best quality and deep black, you must select the "Velvet Fine Art Paper" driver setting. In this case, the single-sheet paper feed on the back of the printer is the only paper feed that works. With other driver settings, such as Epson® Matte Paper, the printer utilizes the Photo Black channel, which is not used at all for carbonprint.
